Description:
Fox  Sterlingworth 12 Gauge Side-by-Side
RARE, HIGH FACTORY CONDITION, 1 OF 1 KNOWN, BEAVERTAIL,  AFFORDABLE!

General Specs: Fox, Year 1938, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 9oz, SxS
Serial Number: 133567

O.K. Fox lovers, do I have your attention?  “What do we have here?” you likely wonder.  Here we have a factory original, unaltered in any way, high condition Fox 12 bore that is 1 of about 200 in its category, 1 of 3 found with ejectors, and the only one known to exist with ejectors, and factory beavertail forend.  This gun was part of a feature article in the Double Gun Journal, Winter of 2014, beginning page 129, written by well-known Fox Guru Frank Srebro.  The gun is discussed and photographed at length, making the documentation clear as can be.  This fine Fox is a Sterlingworth Drawbolt gun, serial number 133567 built in 1938, shipped with ejectors, factory beavertail, and capped pistol grip.  Those Fox enthusiasts not versed in the term “Drawbolt” Fox may be let down finding this to be a “lowly Sterlingworth”, but anyone considering themselves a collector and shooter of Fox guns should take note.  If you have the Double Gun Journal, read the article, as it is highly informative.  If you don’t subscribe to the Double Gun Journal (you should!), I will provide a copy of the Journal to the purchaser of the gun.  Drawbolt Fox guns were the first to see an improvement of the Ansley H. Fox design from 1906, and eliminated one of the only weaknesses of the original design, a thin spot on the top left side of the buttstock where it meets the action.  Drawbolt guns were prototype in nature, and due to WWII, never saw production or advertisement as a new innovation to the Fox design.  As collectible Fox guns go, every collector of A.H. Fox guns should strive to have at least one example of this 1938 innovative Sterlingworth in their collection, and this one has the condition and features that would make it the best-known example of the new Fox drawbolt design.  Fox shooter/collectors should want this gun as it has the desirable and near-impossible-to-find features of ejectors, factory beavertail forend, and high condition with good shooting dimensions.  THIS IS A “VFI CERTIFIED” GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  VFI CERTIFIED guns have had the forend/ejector mechanism and the action stripped, cleaned, inspected, and lubricated, a $275 service.  Mechanically perfect in every way, perfect mirror bores, tight as new on face and hinge pin, and a truly unique Fox 12 bore, it is offered at a price that nearly all can afford and should be a centerpiece for discussion and admiration amongst Fox collectors and shooters alike.  This is a true investment quality Fox, one sure to grow in value as you enjoy its use.  Thanks for looking.
