This is a “Type II" pistol with the 1st variation “Short Line" barrel marking (39mm in length) and retains 97-98% of the original nickel finish that has just a few hints of brown freckling at the muzzles and a few shallow peen marks that have not gone through the nickel. The hammer, lever, and extractor retain most of their original bright fire blue (mostly on the hammer) and the barrel hinge is intact with no lateral play in the barrels when opened. The original mother-of-pearl grips are in fine shape with very little wear, although there are some small spots of ruddy brown freckling on the grips frame edges on either side. The lock-up is tight while the mechanism functions flawlessly. This is a great example of a “Gambler's Friend" in excellent overall condition and would make a great addition to any Western or Saloon collection. {Ref. “The Guns of Remington" by Howard M.
