PUMA AFRICAN BIG FIVE MASTERPIECE KNIFE SET MODEL Model 16-120 ~ No.78

This is a rare, Low Number AFRICAN BIG FIVE Masterpiece Knife Set made by Puma and produced in 1979. It is in excellent condition with all matching numbers (#78) with Serial Number 24972 and stamped on each knife blade lock release is the S/N 24972 . They come in the original dovetailed wooden case with brase hinges and clasps and five tags numbered 24972. Beautifully engraved on both the handles and baldes. The handles are Ivory Micarta with hand schrimshawed on both sides by a well-known scrimshaw artist. They have the animal on one side with its name on the other side. Each blade is engraved with a Big Game Rifle and Spears and the words "African Big Five" on one side - Rifle and 5 Cartridges, the words "Puma Germany" and the Serial No. 78 on the other. The set consists of: LEOPARD, LION, CAPE BUFFALO, RHINO AND ELEPHANT.
There were 300 sets ordered, but due to production costs, only 160 were produced with 30 of these sets broken up to sell as individual knives. Only 130 COMPLETE SETS were made according to the scrimshaw artist.
