Description:
Excellent Late World War II U.S. Ithaca Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol Manufactured in 1944. Blade front and flat top rear sights, with the two-line Ithaca address on the slide and a "FJA" inspected frame. Fitted with a checkered stamped Gold trigger, thin serrated Gold hammer, slide catch, thumb safety and mainspring housing, reinforced Keyes Fiber grips and a Flannery "F" barrel. Two Magazines. The pistol has period "war trophy" chrome plating. A popular practice among returning WWII GIs was to “upgrade” their bring backs with high luster finishes. Chrome plating was most desired and provided the GI with an eye-catching memento from his life changing experience. Fine as period "war trophy" chrome plated with 98% of the finish still remaining on all the metal surfaces. This pistol falls into the second Ithaca 1911A1 serial number block.
