Description:
Not much is known about Armstrong & Co but records indicate they were a provincial maker from Newcastle Upon Tyne and the address on the rib of this gun would indicate a manufacturing date of 1886-1890. Occassionally, one comes across one of these provincial guns which really sets itself apart in terms of quality and appearance.

It is a sideplate gun which of course offers a lot of "canvas" for the engravers and this gun is rather simply but very tastefully engraved. The gun appears completely original and the case coloring is still very good. Same for the wood which shows only a few handling marks. There is a very nice horn buttplate which really sets off the wood.

The gun has very nice modern shooting dimensions with its 30" barrels and .010/.020 cokes. It would be a highly suitable gun at home in the field or gunroom especially for a buyer just getting into vintage English guns and wants one to play with at a decent price.

There is a very nice leather case included which is not original to the gun but which fits well and showcases the gun nicely.

This firearm is from the Oliver-Brice collection. The principal owned a private equity investment firm in Switzerland which allowed him to travel extensively in the UK and Europe. His passion was finding and researching high quality/investment grade British and European double shotguns. His collection is extensive and includes a number of unique firearms like this one. The owner would consider a trade of a fine/collector watch as he is a collector of those as well.
