Description:

CIVIL WAR-era Antique M1860 NAVY Cutlass

Complete with Riveted Leather Scabbard

Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1860 Naval Cutlass, made circa 1862, possibly by Ames. The M1860 was a fantastic vessel boarding weapon in its time, and served well in its role in the U.S. Navy during the American Civil War. Only an estimated 25,000 of these were produced during the war, compared to 300,000 of the M1860 Light Cavalry Sword.

This specimen is in good condition. No markings remain visible on the piece. The edge is a bit dinged up. It certainly seems to have been used quite a bit and possibly crossed a few swords! Leather scabbard is all original and quite solid. Verdigris on the brass rivets.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Blade is 25-1/2 inches in length.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
