Description:
For sale, a very nice 1982 vintage Browning BPS pump shotgun with 2 ventilated rib barrels. This BPS comes with one 26" inch barrel that has the "Invector" interchangeable choke tube system and a 30" inch barrel that has a fixed "Full" choke. The 30 inch "Full" choked barrel was the original barrel that came on this BPS when it was bought new. Years later, when interchangeable choke tube systems became popular, the previous owner purchased a factory Browning 26 inch replacement barrel that had Browning's "Invector" choke system in it. The Browning BPS pump shotgun model is well known for being a strong design, reliable, and attractive. The design features both bottom loading and ejecting which allows the sides of the receiver to be clean, flat, and symmetrical. This example is particularly attractive as it was made in the 1980's when Browning seemed to do a better job with their polishing and finishing. The factory gloss blue finish on this shotgun looks excellent. It rates a solid 95% with only the slightest high edge wear showing and some very minor handling marks. The trigger housing and guard are made of an alloy rather than steel like the receiver, and have a black paint-like finish rather than bluing. It shows a couple of small chips and a scratch across the bottom. This is pictured close-up and could be repaired very easily with some gloss black touch-up paint. Both the 26" and 30" inch vent rib barrels have minty bright bores. Neither barrel has any pitting or dents/bulges, and both have 97 to 98% of the factory blue finish remaining. The 26" inch barrel has an "Improved Cylinder" choke tube installed in it, the only choke tube we were given with this gun from the previous owner. As I mentioned earlier, the 30" inch barrel is a fixed "Full" choke. The checkered Walnut stock set is also in great shape. It shows some small dings and scratches but nothing major. Both the forearm and buttstock are free from cracks or repairs, and the checkered panels on the forearm and pistol grip are still crisp. The buttstock has a factory Browning marked recoil pad fitted to it. The length of pull is a little under 14.5" inches to the end of the pad. Everything on this Browning BPS works 100% like it did when it left the factory. The action locks up tight, the top mounted safety works smoothly, and the trigger breaks nicely. This shotgun comes with the original owners manual and factory choke tube wrench. If you have been looking for a pump shotgun that has beautiful classic styling and lots of versatility, this 2 barrel set Browning BPS would be an excellent choice.
