Description:
.69 cal, NVSN, Springfield 1842 musket, plate marked 1848, 17 inch barrel, barrel is "file cut", walnut wood, butt plate removed long ago.
Term "Blanket Gun" was popularized after the ambush staged by Capt Jack in a California parlAy during the Modoc wars.
Condition: bore is dark, barrel is plum colored, butt plate was removed and probably repurposed, wood is worn smooth from use, tack holes around the base of the stock, excellent mechanically.
