Description:
For sale, a nice example of the French military rifle the MAS Mle. 1936.  This rifle was the main battle rifle used by the French during WW2 and was in service until 1949 when it was replaced with the semi-automatic MAS 49.  Originally chambered in the 7.5x54mm French cartridge, a large number of these rifles that were imported into the United States in the 1990's were rechambered for the 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) cartridge to make them cheaper to shoot with the large amount of surplus .308 ammo available here.  These re-chambered rifles like this one are easy to spot with the large "308" stamped on the side of the receiver below the small importer's stamp on the left side.  This Mle.1936 is in great shape overall with a perfect bore.  The wooden stock set is free from cracks and repairs, and this rifle is complete with the original spike bayonet stored in the fore end.  Everything works 100% like it was designed to.  If you have been looking for an economical WW2 military rifle to add to your collection and/or take to the range, this MAS Mle.1936 would be an excellent choice.
