Charles Lancaster “The Twelve-Twenty” Best Sidelock Ejector gun. 12 gauge, 28” barrels; correct nominal wall thicknesses of .027”, unaltered 2 ½” chambers, perfect bores choked .012” & .028” (IC/F) topped with a concave solid rib tapering from .342” to .242” at the muzzle; with a small front bead. Features: Double triggers, Prince of Wales grip on the beautiful French walnut stock, matching splinter forearm with Anson release, assisted opening and ejectors that are so good, you have to warn the shooters behind you! The frame is engraved tastefully in a typical British Best Gun rose and scroll. The case colors are all but completely faded with just traces visible. According to records from Atkin Grant & Lang the gun was completed on the 26th of June 1947 and honestly it appears as if it has spent all of its time in the motor case! For a nearly 70 year old gun it is remarkably extra fine condition that I will give it a 98%+ rating. The stock has a 14 ¾” LOP to the checkered butt, 1 9/16” DAC & 2 3/8” DAH with a significant right hand cast of 3/8” at the heel & ½” at the toe. The gun weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz. and balances at the hinge pin. The case is a James Purdey Motor Case with a Charles Lancaster case label. Beautiful game gun!
