ENGLISH Antique Deringer .48 Caliber Percussion Pistol
Very Small British Proofed London Pocket Pistol
Here we present an antique .48 Caliber Percussion Pistol, made circa 1840 in England. This little pistol would have been perfect for carrying in a pocket for self-defense. It was the English version of Henry Deringer’s pistol. The brass frame is engraved and marked “LONDON” on one side and the maker’s name on the other. Though not clear, the last four letters appear to be “OVER” or “OKER”. It may even read “JOKER”. British proof marks are located on the bottom of the frame.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are mostly legible. The wood grip shows period wear, but is largely smooth. The bore is smooth and clean. The action is strong. Here is a neat little English pistol!
