OUTLANDISHLY LONG Barreled European ANTIQUE Pistol
ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE from the Mid-1800s
Here we present an antique European Boxlock Percussion Pistol, made circa 1840. This type of box lock pistol is normally seen with a very short barrel and small grip, perfect for a 19th Century concealed carry pistol in Europe. This pistol, however, has a nearly 12-inch barrel with a full-sized, bulbous grip. It never had sights. This would have made a formidable weapon after that single shot was expended.
The only markings on the pistol are a matching “3” on the bottom of the frame and the barrel, as well as a proof mark and the number “10.6”. This last mark was a later addition, very likely per government regulation.
The overall condition is very good. The metal is dark with age. The markings are clear. The wood grip is smooth and solid. The action is excellent. Here is a true 19th Century oddity for your collection!
