Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 Engraved Presentation
Find this cased factory “A” engraved Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 44 Magnum Revolver, Serial # N643646. The revolver was discovered by my client when clearing out his uncle’s estate. The revolver was found stored inside the Smith & Wesson walnut case. The standing breech face does not indicate the gun was fired. The revolver has a pinned 8 3/8-inch barrel with red ramp front sight and white line adjustable rear sight. It has the wide target style trigger and hammer and both retain the vivid case-hardened colors we all love and miss from current Smith & Wesson offerings. Further this 29-2 revolver has the counterbored or recessed cylinder. Smooth large wood target stocks round out this great revolver. These are all desirable features that went the wayside when the accountants took over firearms production. Barrel bore and cylinder chambers are flawless inside. There are a few small blemishes to the revolvers exterior metal. Primarily located on the left side of the rib and one spot on the right side of the barrel. As you can see the form fitted portion has broken down and decayed. I believe this occurs through the chemical processes when the firearm is stored with in the case and not ventilated properly. The oils and fluids used in and during manufacture and shipping off gas and cause the decorative interior to break down. Revolver will ship with the tools and the papers seen in these photos.
