This is a fine example with particularly nice wood showing only light normal handling with tight wood to metal fit (the dark stripe on the left side of the butt stock is simply typical black powder fouling that was washed out of the bore and always stains the wood in this manner), the metal parts are all gray/brown showing no signs of over cleaning, steel wooling etc., with a very attractive aged patina, buckhorn rear sight with small blade/bead front sight, fine bore is a little dark with good rifling and only light scattered surface pitting, correct trap in butt plate for cleaning rods, very tight action, this rifle was so good Winchester bought them out and discontinued the production! Nice, honest early example. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Whitney Model: Kennedy Lever Action Rifle Serial Number: A2X Caliber Info: .44-40 Condition: FINE Barrels: 24" ROUND |
