Description:
.45, #14754, 7 1/2 inch barrel, nickel and blue finish, 2 piece hard rubber grips, "275 MD" stamped on left frame, correct holster marked "CMR (Canadian Mounted Rifles) A350"

In 1885 the Canadian Department of Militia and Defence ordered 11001 Colt Model 1878 revolvers from Hartley & Graham.  They were all nickel, 7 1/2 inch .45's.  These were to be used to arm militias during the Riel Rebellion. How many were actually used at that time is not known.  These arms were also issued to Canadian forces sent to South Africa during the Boer Wars. The "MC" mark was probably applied around 1800 and is found on Canadian side arms used during WWI.

Condition:mirror bore, 90% nickel remains overall, 95% fire blue remains on hammer and trigger, some screws show traces of fire blue, holster is constructed of heavy leather and is slightly altered, excellent grips, excellent marks, excellent mechanically.
