The Savage Model 24V was manuactured from 1967 to 1989 and was offered in 6 centerfire calibers over a 20 gauge shotgun barrel with a 3 inch chamber. It featured a color case hardened receiver and blued 24 inch barrels with a selectable hammer and a single trigger. This example is in excellent overall condition and is chambered in 30-30 Winchester, a caliber we have seldom encountered with these combo guns. The bores in both barrels are minty and bright. The shotgun barrel is clean with no pitting and the rifle barrel is also clean with sharp rifling. There are no buldges or dents in either barrel. As you can see in the pictures, the receiver still has almost all of the case colors showing and the factory bluing on the barrels looks fantastic. While this combo gun is used, it appears to have been used very little and only shows some very minor handling marks visible under close inspection. The action locks up tight and the selectable hammer positively locks into both the upper and lower position. This Savage Model 24V has a surprisingly good trigger that functions perfectly. The stock set features pressed checkering in both the forearm and buttstock, and both pieces are free from cracks or repairs. The most noticeable detraction from the stock set is that there is some varnish chipping away around the upper tang. There is a close up of this area in the pictures provided. The stock set also features a white spacer and black grip cap on the pistol grip and a white spacer and black plastic butt plate, both of which are in excellent condition. The only non-factory alteration of this Savage is a set of sling swivels have been added to it; the upper mounted on a barrel band and the lower sling swivel stud screwed into the keel of the butt. This would be an excellent addition to any combo gun collection or the perfect choice for someone looking for one do-it-all type firearm.
