Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Great condition vintage Holland & Holland all leather cartridge case with original maker’s label with the “98 Bond Street London” address. Appears to have been made in the late Victorian era. Holds approximately five hundred 2-3/4” or 2-1/2” shotshells. Has six partitions with leather aprons to raise the height of the cartridges as shells are used. The initials H.M.C. are carved on the top.   ***   The leather has a number of handling marks that come from years of use in the shooting fields but is in otherwise good condition with a rich patina. Some of the stitching on the left front corner of the lid has come loose at the seam but that can easily be repaired. The lock works but there is no key. The interior is in good shape and the partition dividers are tight in position. New ones cost well over $2,500 today.   ***   Exterior dimensions of the lid are 18-3/4” by 12” by 5-1/4”. Great for use at the range, tower pheasant shoots, driven grouse, transporting your ammunition, or as a display item in your gunroom. Vintage pieces like this with a great maker’s trade label do not come around very often. What stories it could tell. Don’t let it get away.   ***   Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. Flat rate shipping/insurance is $40.00 to Lower 48. I give a 3-day inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the item is not as described in the listing. No FFL is required but payment must be made in a US Postal Money Order or cashier’s check. The cartridges and shell boxes pictured are photo props and are not included.
