Description:
A “Master Engraved” sidelock Merkel 447 SL with exhibition grade wood and cased in its factory canvas and leather case with leather maker’s label. This exquisitely engraved double has the beautiful “Custom Arabesque” pattern by the noted German engraver Burkhardt Hafner whose initials are engraved on the right lockplate. These guns are few and far between but this is even more rare in that it is in 16 gauge. Comes with its original box with manufacturer’s label. Serial number 4805XX indicates it was made in 1999 during the last few years of production for this model. *** The frame has a Kersten-style cross bolt and double triggers and auto ejectors. The 28” barrels are chambered for 2-3/4” cartridges and are choked Improved Cylinder and Modified. They are topped by a raised solid concave crosshatched rib. *** The straight grip and splinter forearm are crafted with exhibition grade walnut. It has a factory logo plastic buttplate. Stock dimensions are 14-1/2” by 1-3/8” by 2-3/8”. Overall weight is 6lb 12oz. NOTE: I added photos of the labels on both ends of the box. One is in English; the other is in German. *** I must say that the photos do not do justice to this fabulous Merkel. It a joy to behold and swings like a wand. You will be proud to uncase this at the range or for a day afield. Isn't it time to reward yourself? *** I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license.
