Description:
Colt started making the Agent model in 1962. It was made with a shorter grip frame than the Cobra to make it easier to conceal. This example which was manufactured in 1972, has the desirable option of a factory installed hammer shroud which is noted on the original box label. This Colt is in beautiful, near mint condition. The original factory blue finish rates a solid 98 to 99%. There is no sign of holster or carry wear, and in order to find anything remotely worthy of a deduction you have to look extremely carefully and close. The bore in the barrel and all of the cylinder bores are minty and bright. The rifling shows sharp lands and grooves and there is no sign of pitting or bore erosion. The original checkered American Walnut grip panels are also in excellent condition. They show no signs of wear, the checkering is clean and crisp, and they were fit precisely at the factory when it was assembled. The factory installed hammer shroud is like the rest of the gun, in like-new condition. The action on this Colt Agent is superb, it functions smoothly in both single and double action. The trigger breaks cleanly in either mode of operation as well, with no creep or grittiness. Given the overall like-new condition of this Agent we believe that it is either unfired since being test fired at the factory, or at most fired a handful of times and has remained in storage ever since. This Agent comes with the original factory box which is numbered to the gun and has the original label firmly attached to the end of the box. As you can see in the pictures, it has the factory added additional sticker denoting the hammer shroud it left the factory with. This is a near perfect example of a first issue Colt Agent that would be almost impossible to upgrade from. If you have been looking for a "collector grade" Agent to invest in this is it! $1,250.00
