Winchester Pre 64 Model 70 Feather Weight 270 Winchester
Our California gun gatherer is offering for sale one of his Pre-64 Model 70 Winchesters. This rifle is a 270 Winchester Featherweight, Serial # 478859. Receiver and Bolt serial numbers match. Quite scarce and not often encountered Model 70 Featherweight. Usually I encounter these in only in collections. Here is your chance to own one. Metal retains 93-95% Original Blue with some thinning at muzzle crown, bolt handle wear, (which is typical) most extensive wear is on the floorplate which was and is the natural place to carry the rifle whilst afield. Trigger guard had a scuff too, I touched it up after the photos with a Sharpie. An old school one-piece Redfield scope mount ships as mounted on the rifle no extra holes. Wood is near perfect except small compression ding on the left, just forward of the pistol grip checkering. Also, there is a scratch on the left side, high center, near the comb or cheek piece. Black hard plastic or hard rubber but plate. Sling mounts remain. The 22-inch barrel has a bright and shiny bore no issues. Rear sight was removed and lost in deference to the scope, front sight hood suffered the same fate.
