Description:
Serial #D5299, 7.65mm Argentine, 29" barrel with a fair, pitted bore. This is a “scrubbed" rifle that has had the national crest removed from the receiver prior to export but the remainder of the metal has excellent original blue remaining with very little evident wear. All numbers match (including the stock) and the bolt has its original armory bright finish with some light freckling on the handle. Additionally, the latch retains most of the original nitre bluing. The walnut stock has a few minor handling blemishes and small bruises scattered about the arsenal re-applied military oil finish, but the Argentine cartouche on the right side of the butt is still clear. “Scrubbed" rifles like this were supplied to Paraguay for use against Bolivia during the ruinous Chaco War of 1932-1935 (despite Argentina's declared neutrality) in order to secure oil rights in the contested region. This is a great looking example, in good-very good condition, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
