Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 30-06 Featherweight
Offering this Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 30-06 Springfield, serial # 285318. The rifles bolt and receiver match. Early 1954 production. The 22 inch barrel has an excellent bore and rifling. The rear sight has been removed, and a Marble’s plug installed. The fore sight has been removed and a blank installed there as well. The barrel has a few areas of thin bluing from use and storage. Blue is thin on the floorplate at the edges. At some point someone has mounted this rifle into the black synthetic stock you see here. The rifle will ship with the one-piece Leupold base. I know some of you Winchester purist will go crazy but this rifle deserves to be simply restored to its original configuration by installing it in a wood stock and install correct sight hardware as well. If we do it for old cars we should do it for classic rifles, the key is full disclosure.
