Description:
SOLD!!!!! Austrian Lorenz Rifle with the soldier’s name carved on the stock.  The only provenance is verbal from the sellers that this Rifle was used by a Georgia rebel. The stock has the soldiers name  W. L. Dale carved in the stock. W.L. Dale is listed in the national archives from the confederate 11th Regiment Georgia Infantry. That is the only research I have done.  The action works but is weak.  It holds half cock and full cock. This rifle is in relic condition and had some repair to the wrist.  The wrist was cracked.  Metal is in relic barn condition as shown in the photos. These rifles were popular with soldiers in the South.  Has a nice CIvil War period wood rod with carved cleaning tip.
With some TLC you could improve the eye appeal drastically with just a oil on the stock.  I have not touched it in any way.
