Description:
ENFIELD PATTERN 1853 PERCUSSION RIFLE MUSKET WITH CONFEDERATE ASSOCIATIONS. .577 caliber with 39” rifled barrel having Birmingham Proofs at the left breech. 100% original and complete and of the type dated “1862” without “TOWER” lock stamp associated with Enfield purchases by individual States as opposed to those purchased by Richmond. Very good overall and with very nice markings including a crisp “CROWN” and “1862” stamped forward of the lock. Stock with nice stock maker’s cartouche on the right butt. Working order and reasonably good bore with well defined rifling. Left side of butt with nicely carved initials “J J B” and the right side carved with an initial (B) in a more simple fashion. Collected in the early post WW2 in the Southern Maryland area and with exceptional collection provenance.
