This sale offers a near 100% Smith 50 cal. carbine, serial number 21119 manufactured ca. 1864. This gun is marked MANUFACTURED BY MASS ARMS CO. CHICOPEE FALLS AND ADDRESS POULTNEY & TRIMBLE, BALTIMORE U.S.A. This is a no apologies, no excuses Civil War era Smith that is about as perfect as one can get. It was obviously never issued and I'm not sure if has ever been fired except to be proofed. All markings are crisp with a strong cartouche on the right side of the stock.
