Description:
Best described as a Springfield Armory Allin conversion on a Remington 1863 Pattern Percussion Musket. .50-70 cal. with an excellent bore, excellent wood, excellent stock & stock finish, 2 barrel bands, etc. Metal is bright and original on barrel, etc. US marked blued/blackened buttplate and lockplate dated 1865 with a Springfield Eagle and Remington's Ilion , N.Y. and also inspector stamp 4 ( same on barrel below breechbolt extension on left side). Breechbolt has dark black finish with 1866 over eagles head. Barrel length is 32.5 inches. Rifle is equipped with leather sling which may or may not be original. No visible serial number that we can see. One hell of an Allin conversion trapdoor.
