Description:
serial #15125, 12 ga, 26" barrels choked improved cylinder and improved modified with bright excellent bores. The action features nice tasteful scroll engraving in about 75% coverage and is engraved with the makers name on each side. The top of the barrel rib is engraved "WILLIAM POWELL & SON, 35 CARRS LANE, BIRMINGHAM" and is inlaid in gold "FOR 2 INCH CASE ONLY". The barrels retain 95% evenly thinning original blue finish overall. The action shows a pleasing mix of faded original color case-hardened finish blending with a smooth gray patina. The bottom plate and triggerguard retain almost all of their high quality London blue. The shotgun features double triggers, ejectors, automatic safety, dropper points and a gold monogram plate in the toeline of stock which is engraved "WWP". The checkered straight grip walnut buttstock and splinter forend rate excellent and retain 95% of a wonderful quality restored finish. The shotgun has a 13 3/4" pull over a checkered butt and shows drops of 1 1/2" and 2". The gun weighs just under 5 1/2 lbs and comes in its original case with proper paper maker's label, cleaning rod, oiler, snap caps and cleaning implements. These ultra light 2" guns are hard to find and make wonderful upland bird guns. Included with the gun is a letter from William Powell outlining the original order which conforms to its present configuration and showing the gun being completed on September 24, 1954.
