U.S. Model 1841 Mississippi Rifle by Whitney. Dated 1850 on the lock. Correct original Whitney barrel with a mixture of original finish and a brown patina. Wood shows good wear, but has been cared for. There is percussion burn out behind the nipple. Cartouches are faint, but visible. The name “F.A. Brooks” is on the butt plate. Gun works perfectly. Bore gauges about 58 caliber and is smooth bore. A very attractive gun!
