Description:
Serial #38807, .50-70, 32 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few traces of mild freckling within the grooves. This rifle has an 1863 dated lockplate with the metal having a mostly armory bright patina with evenly distributed spots and streaks of mild freckling along the visible metal. The serial numbers on the barrel and receiver are matching, and the 1870 dated breech lock-up is firm. Additionally, the action is tight and functions flawlessly. The walnut stock has an added oil finish over lightly sanded wood, and numerous minor surface marks and handling blemishes. The “ESA" inspector cartouche is faint but still legible and the comb of the buttstock has a small company identifier stamped into the wood just ahead of the buttplate tang: “A". The rifle comes with a correct metal ramrod and is in very good plus-near fine condition overall. Antique
