Description:
Octagon barrel with very good rifling has W.B.Smith stamped just forward of the reciever. Much of the original blueing remains. The action functions perfectly. This gun is serviceable and comes with 6 original "W.R.A. Co. 40-82 W.C.F".black powder cartridges which will be shipped to you separately. The gun is all original with the exception of the checkering on the grip. (It's actually quite well done and is appealing in a folk art kind of way.) The crescent butt plate has a slight patch of oxydation on the lower end and there appears to be some white paint spatters on the butt stock.
This very nice low serial number antique Winchester was shipped from the factory in New Haven CT. in 1887 and comes with a letter from the Cody Firearms Museum, Cody, WY.
