WWII Dated “1943” SOVIET M38 Mosin Nagant Carbine
Shorter, Lighter, Handier Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54R
Here we present a Soviet Model 1938 Mosin Nagant Carbine, made in 1943 at the Izhevsk arsenal during World War II. The M38 was a much handier variant of the full-length Model 91/30. The Mosin Nagant has become iconic of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Front Theater of World War II. Built to be absolutely rugged and reliable, they are also powerful and hold a special place in collectors’ hearts.
The barrel is marked with a Soviet hammer and sickle inside a laurel, along with “1943”, the serial number, the Izhevsk arsenal mark and various proof and acceptance markings. The receiver is marked by the importer. Rear sight is graduated to 1000 meters.
The overall condition is near fine. This carbine has been arsenal refurbished. Blue is about 95%. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match on the barrel, bolt, butt plate and magazine floor plate, though the floor plate was originally numbered to another gun before the refurbishment, and the old number has been struck. The stock is mostly smooth with some handling marks. The bore is clean with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a very nice, handy little carbine with WWII date!
