Description:
From a mid-west sale, a beautiful antique percussion Rifle/Shotgun over under combination gun. The 30" octagon barrels are 44/45 caliber rifle over a 16 gauge smooth bore shotgun. Both barrels appear to have good bores and the rifle barrel has an adjustable rear and a German Silver blade front sight (see photos). The top flat of the rifle barrel is stamped "J.H. Phillips Greenville Pa." The very fancy "Tiger Striped" maple wood stock is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks but has a few dents and dings from over 100 years use (see photos). The stock has a German Silver crescent butt plate, a German Silver patch box, German Silver star inlay and German Silver trigger guard (see photos). The left side of the stock has a very nice carved cheek piece with a shadow line and a German Silver five pointed star inlayed in it. LOP 13 1/4" to the front trigger. One set of double set triggers work both locks independently. The locks both have strong springs and both function as they should. The back action lock plates and hammers have light scroll engraving (see photos). The metal has a very nice brown patina (see photos). There are two wood ram rods and both have loading and accessory brass tips (see photos). This is an excellent combination gun made by a long dead master Pennsylvania gunsmith that is complete, unaltered and original.
