Description:
An ornate Civil War navy officers sword in this shape is getting near impossiable to find. This was colleted in the late 1960's so not the ones you find now a days. This has it all the ornate pommel with the navy eagle,and 13 stars, the brass hand guard ,with sea serpant mouth attached to pommel, silver grip super with brass wire,USN in basket, with surpent thumb guard. Thirteen star ornate acid etched blade , floral with boarding sword, ankor,pikes, on the reverse , has the makers name ,more foral and U.S.N.. On the blade back edge is the IRON PROOF mark.The original leather scabbard keeper is intact. The mounts all ornately engraved V V , VERMONT OR VIRGINA VOLUNTEERS? set of horns , clam shell ,fouled ankor & rope, super ornate drag with sea serpent, all numbered.One of the higest quality produced during the Civil war,and in above great condition today.
