Description:
This gun is the break-open variety in cal 22 short. Markings on the bbl are "W. Wurfflein Philadelphia PA USA Patented June 24, 1884". To activate the break-open there is another piece that looks like a second hammer that opens the action. Once the action is open, the hinge-pin is very nice and tight. These are evidently set up to be a target rifle and this one has all the characteristics such as a 28" medium heavy bbl. About the first 12" is oct bbl and then goes to a round bbl. The bbl is equipped with a Beaches style globe sight and one of the many variations of the tall Vernier tang sight. Most blue remains. Some thinning. A few rub marks. Wood is very dark walnut with some extra figure. Overall good cond with just a few dings, a couple of those from the tang sight. One very small chip missing towards the lower tang. Orig hard rubber buttplate and pistol grip cap. This is a very unusual piece that would make a good collectable with good eye appeal.
