Description:
This shotgun is made by Westley Richards and retailed by Edward K. Tryon co. of Phila., PA. !2 gauge 26" bbls. choked IC/F. Birmingham proofed for 1 1/8 oz.loads. The blue and case colors are very strong.Nicely engraved. Greener cross bolt. Measures LOP 14 1/4" to leather pad. Drop 2 3/4". Serial number isT58XX squarely in the Westley Richards range for 1918. Gun is marked Tryon but is clearly a Richards as indicated by markings on fore end iron. Tryon also sold guns made by Baker, Parker, and inexpensive Stevens and Crescents.
Edward K. Tryon is a decendent of a long line of gun makers in Phila. There are many examples of percussion rifles and pistols still existing. Edward K. Tryon Co. existed in the 1960s when as a student I worked in a hardware store. Much of our stock was purchased from Tryon and we could purchase guns and accessories.
