Circa 1854 WITH "90,xxx" serial number. All matching except wedge which is obviously a period replacement. Missing triggerguard screw. All other screws correct. Nice matching cylinder with same pinprick salt and pepper as on frame and barrel. Small traces of case colors remaining on frame attest to it's non-refurbishment. Correct two-line new york address on top barrel flat. Original walnut grips with traces of original varnish(sliver missing at butt). Cutdown barrel was professionally done at the time of use and properly crowned and evenly reduced without sight typical of belly gun(nothing to catch on clothing or belt). All original Colt proofs where they should be. Mainspring needs to be replaced as does not cycle but sears do catch. Traces of of silver plating on triggerguard. Would make a nice addition to Cavalry or Civil War guerilla collection/display. SOLD Antique: Yes |
