Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are way proud to offer this amazing example of Colt's Single Action Army decked out with silver plate and genuine Bohlin sterling silver grips. The condition is wonderful, with a vivid etched panel, clear and sharp stampings, 100% silver plate, crisp action, and very good bore. She is chambered in 44-40 WCF, and this caliber is red hot in the single action army. It is the only caliber to have a special name, and only 25% of total production were 44's. Sam Colt was smart to chamber his revolvers in Winchester rifle calibers. Cowboys loved them, because they could carry one ammo for rifle and sidearm. The barrel is the 4 3/4 inch gunfighter length, complete with the 2 line Colt address. The bore has considerable shine and distinct rifling. Not bad for a black powder era gun. Made in the year of our Lord 1887, this is made on the black powder frame, and ships direct to your door. The dimpled base pin is held in with a diagonal screw, she has the 3 line patent date, the hammer is correct, and has other correct early features. To top it off, a pair of spectacular Bohlin grips has been fitted to this wheel gun. They are engraved sterling silver, with a real gold steer's head. Edward H. Bohlin became the premier saddle maker for the west coast wealthy, using his silversmith talents to adorn saddles, belt buckles, hat bands, and gun grips. His first shop was struggling, when Tom Mix encouraged him to persevere, which he did. Bohlin would perform rope tricks in front of the shop, luring customers into his store. Today, these grips typically fetch 3000 dollars on the open market. These are the only ones that I have seen with the rope trim. This revolver was very hard to photograph, but looks fantastic in person. A Colt research letter could really boost the value of this gun, but I don't have time to wait. Investors, take note, a much worn Bohlin shod Frontier Six Shooter made in 1897 sold for 8500 in 2013. A standard SAA in .32 caliber with Bohlin grips sold for 7800 in August of 2018. If you have been looking for the right first genny Colt, but want something really special, then look no further.
