Description:
Serial #352136, .30-40 Krag, 22" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This carbine retains 95-97% of the original blue finish on the barrel, band, and buttplate with some minor silvering at the muzzle as well as along the edges of the plate and triggerguard bow. The receiver has excellent original finish with some mild gray fading present on the left side “hump" of the magazine itself. The magazine door has some small silvered scratches along the surface and some wear at the the front corner, but is otherwise in excellent shape. The extractor retains 92-95% of its original brilliant fire blue finish and the bolt, finished armory bright, has some very mild freckling on the handle. The walnut stock and correct handguard (with pronounced hump just ahead of the Model 1902 rear sight) are likewise in excellent condition with only small handling marks and minor scuffs scattered about the original oil finish. The left side of the wrist has a crisp “JSA/1899" cartouche and “P" proof on the underside. An original, Rock Island Arsenal marked leather sling is included which has a faint, but legible, past owner's/issuee's name written in ink: “Byrne". This is a splendid '99 Krag carbine in excellent condition with an unusually high amount of the original finish remaining. FFL or C&R
