This is a simply splendid, 1938-made revolver that has retained 99% plus of the original blue finish with only a few hints of silvering along some of the high and exposed edges, as well as a very faint turn-ring on the cylinder. The checkered trigger likewise retains almost all of the original blue, while the factory bright sides of the hammer have only faint traces of mild freckling just starting to appear. The checkered walnut Colt medallion grips are in excellent shape as well with light verdigris around the screw bolsters and medallions, and some very mild flattening of the otherwise sharp points. The lanyard swivel at the butt has nearly all of the original color case-hardening remaining as well. The lock-up is rock solid, and the mechanism functions flawlessly. This a fantastic example of a pre-war New Service, in excellent overall condition, and would make a stellar addition to any collection.
