Description:
Serial #35820, .22 Short, 24" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has some moderate freckling within the grooves. This is a nice little rifle that has 80-85% of the original blue remaining on the barrel that has faded along the edges of the facets, and silvered at the muzzle. The frame has dull traces of the original color case-hardening with the majority turned to a mottled pewter gray patina that has some thin freckling in spots as well. The original walnut stock and forend have numerous small handling marks and minor surface blemishes in the original varnish finish, and the crescent buttplate mirrors the patina on the frame. The rear barrel sight dovetail is filled with a blank and the rifle is fitted with a folding rear tang sight that is mated to a sporting bead front blade. The action is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a splendid, Marlin-made Ballard Gallery Rifle in fine condition, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
