Description: NSN, .50 Caliber, 8" octagon barrels with excellent, bright bores. These exquisite pistols, made by Fremantle of Fareham, retain nearly all of their original striped finish on the wedge-fastened barrels with some very minor fading along the the edges of the facets and at the muzzle crowns. The locks, spurred trigger guards, breech bolsters, wedge escutcheons, and grip caps likewise retain visible traces of the original color case-hardened finish, and the balance turned to a pleasant steely-blue patina. The nicely figured English walnut stocks have only minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about their original finish and the tight knurling on the grips are still sharply defined. The locks function flawlessly and are mated to conventional, non-adjustable triggers that have crisp let-off. Simple fixed sights are fitted. The pistols are housed in their original case with a slightly worn maroon baize lining and a partial complement of accessories: turn-screw, small pistol flask with adjustable patent charger top, and a japanned tin of Eley caps. The case is in very good condition with some minor surface blemishes scattered about the added varnish finish, a transverse crack along the floor, and the lid has warped upwards at the front slightly (the sliding latches do still engage their studs, however). The wood has a few minor drying cracks on the lid and the brass presentation plaque is blank. This is a truly beautiful cased set of pistols that are of superb build quality, and rate about excellent condition overall. They would make a stellar addition to any fine collection of firearms.
