Description:
J. Purdey 12 ga., 28" chopperlump barrels with a hand-matted, raised flat-top rib. Original 2-3/4" chambers, 3-1/4 tons. Double triggers, auto-safe. The self-opening action flashes a potpourri of brilliant case colors which enhance the traditional Purdey-style rose and scroll engraving. "J. Purdey & Sons Audley House South Audley Street London England" is inscribed on the barrels. This fine example features a splinter forend, straight hand stock of magnificent figured Circassian walnut with rich marbling throughout. Measures 15" over original leather covered pad. 1-1/2" drop at comb, 2" at heel. Finished in 1970, this Purdey remains in spectacular original condition. Choked .010/.015, open modified and modified. Bores and walls as new. This particular Purdey brings to mind exactly what a best London gun should be. Weighs 6 lbs, 12 oz. Cased in original oak and leather case with accessories. Simply beautiful!
