Small Early 20th Century Conceal & Carry Revolver
Here we present an Iver Johnson Double Action Top Break Revolver, made circa the early 20th Century in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The company continued to operate until 1993. This revolver was designed to be small and concealable for self-defense.
This revolver is chambered for 5 shots of .38 S&W and features a trigger safety insert, somewhat like those in striker fired handguns today. The action works in both double and single action. The top of the barrel is marked “IVER JOHNSON ARMS & CYCLE WORKS/FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A.” The grips are marked with the company initials and an owl’s face on either side.
The overall condition is very good. The original blue finish is 80%. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in very nice shape. Front sight blade is absent. Rifling is sharp and the bore is clean. The action is strong.
