Description:
Serial #3921. This is a J.P. Sauer & Sohn marked, 1917 dated, “7.62" marked Mauser action that retains 92-95% of an added phosphate finish with silvering along the high edges and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. There is moderate pitting along the sides of the magazine well under the new finish, and an import mark on the left side (which would be covered by the stock on a finished rifle). The follower and magazine spring are still in place, and the receiver ring and bridge have been drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The action was imported to South Africa for conversion to commercial applications by Musgrave in Bloemfontein, RSA. Their name is stamped on the underside of the action next to the magazine housing. This is a fine, WW1 era, Israeli marked military rifle action, ready for conversion to a sporting or target rifle. FFL
