Description:
Serial #54836, .22 L.R., 29" barrel with matted rib, and an excellent, bright bore. This is a fairly rare rifle that retains 85-90% of the original blue finish that exhibits some faint freckling along the barrel and sides of the receiver, as well as some mild silvering and fading on the projecting edges. The breech block has bright original polish, but with dark freckling along the sides flanking the loading trough. The left rear of the receiver has the original sight graduations, but the BSA No. 30 rear sight is no longer present, and there are four drilled and tapped holes (also on the left) for a no longer present rear sight mount. The checkered walnut forend and pistol-grip buttstock are in very good shape with numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about the original varnish. The BSA buttplate is heavily worn with the underlying metal plate visible the heel and toe. The original globe front sight is still present, and a full complement of inserts is included, kept in one of two brass containers inset into the underside of the forend. This is a scarce small frame Martini that rates good-near very good overall. FFL or C&R
