Description:
This is a very nice Henry rifle that was used by the 3rd Regiment U.S. Veteran Volunteers during the Civil War according to American Arms . Springfield records show Serial Number 7500 went to Company I 3rd US Veteran Volunteers Infantry. The rifle has limited blue with some in the protected areas, under the ladder sight and behind the sight where the SN is. There is also fair blue along the finger groove from muzzle to receiver. The firing pin has strong blue with good gloss. The receiver is a nice mustard color that matches the crescent butt plate and loading finger lever. The bottom of the shell carrier is in excellent condition and not beat up. The edges look great and the joints are safe tight. The lever, trigger, hammer and lever latch are also in very nice condition with no pitting and mixed mottled patina. Some of the screws have been turned and are not perfect but also far from abused. The serial numbers match on the top of the barrel, under the tang on the stock, the butt plate and the side of the receiver under the stock. The rifle has matching assembly numbers on the frame and barrel. The sight is a 900 yard ladder style and appears correct to the rifle. The front sight looks to be German silver. The walnut stock is very nice with combat dings and dents and a light but old looking crack on the right side behind the receiver extending a touch over 1 inch. The rifle has a correct stock mounted and barrel mounted sling staples. The 24 inch barrel is in very nice condition with a bright shiny bore. This fine henry does not have a stock bump.
