Charlin, St. Etienne - 12 Ga. Sliding Breech Game Gun
STUNNING! This is an extraordinary gun. Beautifully inlaid with gold, this Charlin Sliding Breech Game Gun comes with case and an interesting Rhinestone Elephant. It is a lightweight 12 ga. game gun ca. 1950-1960 and weighs only 6 1/2 lbs. with 28" barrels.
The number "1" is gold inlaid on the barrels with "1" also inlaid on the sliding breech. This gun is one of a pair of guns made for the Maharajah of Patiala who presented it as a gift to an American engineer working in India for Pratt & Whitney. It has also been featured in a Bill Headrick article with photos in the Spring 2002 issue of "Double Gun Journal".
The action is beautifully embellished with 3 shades of gold: Yellow, Green and Rose Gold inlays of flowers and foliage in the deeply chiseled steel surface of the breech opening lever. Very fine checkering on the straight grip stock and splinter forend. It has a 14 1/4" checkered butt made of European Walnut, double triggers and a silky smooth action.
The custom made case is made of Walnut and dark brown pebbled leather. The case has brass corners and is lined in royal blue suede with a paper Charlin label in the lid.
Included in the case are gold plated snap caps, square oil bottle and a Rhinestone encrusted gold colored elephant with sapphire blue jewel eyes, cloisonne colors and it is hinged to form a jewel box.
This beautiful gun is a work of art, mechanically and esthetically perfect and irreplaceable.
