Description:
Serial #78461, .50-70, 22" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves at the muzzle. This six-groove carbine has a mellow plum-brown patina along the barrel with some visible blue remaining at the muzzle. The frame has a mellow plum-brown patina with thin freckling throughout. The correct walnut buttstock without patchbox has a crisp “DFC" cartouche, and scattered handling marks and blemishes in the armory applied oil finish with a few additional marks and bruises along the belly and sides of the wrist. The walnut forend matches the condition of the buttstock and exhibits light-moderate handling marks and and bruises, heaviest around the barrel band. The buttplate is the original, and is notched for the no longer present patchbox, and the action lock-up is still tight, and functions flawlessly. This is a very nice cartridge converted Sharps carbine in fine overall condition with a great antique look and fine shootable bore. Antique
