Description:
SOLD...Antique 1894 Winchester. 30-30 caliber. Round barrel. Another “Ye ole” 94 standard 26” round barrel in the famous 30-30 caliber. S/N 36018 so this is another true antique 94 and these are getting harder to find. The bore is very good with very strong rifling all the way through. Just is not bright and shiny but not pitted either. Still shoots great. Still very accurate.. No backed out primers and no bulged cases.. The mechanics are excellent in every way.. Feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive. Strong springs throughout with no issues.. The over all gun condition is well used and a little on the rough side. The metal is a medium to dark brown patina that shows good traces of original blue on the barrel and mag tube. Also shows some light surface crud and some scratches from light cleaning of some of the surface crud. A couple spots of very light pin prick type pitting on the barrel address as you can see in that photo but nothing out of the norm for a well used ole 94. This gun came down into Washington state from Canada so was probably still being used as a survival weapon !!! Sides of the receiver show some light dings or possibly tool marks but the barrel does not show anything so I do not think they are vice marks or anything of the sort but this is just my guess. They are VERY old and nothing that has been done for the last 100 years.. Make up your own story on this one !!! It is what it is. You can see one side in the photos and I can send more photos if you desire no problem.. The markings are all readable as far as the barrel address goes. Tang markings and S/N, caliber markings are very good to excellent. Still has the “heart” shaped early hammer knurling. The screws for the most part are good and serviceable but some do show some turning as would be expected on a well used rifle. None of them are burred up bad or ruined. Just show some turning. Has the original front and rear sights. The rear sight is of the flat top design that has had the face thinned a little as you can see in the caliber marking photo. The wood shows use and wear. The forearm shows a tight grain split on the right side as you can see that has been darkened?? It is solid and tight. The forearm still fits tight to the metal and actually is still proud to the receiver and forearm cap so never sanded on or messed with.. Just a few honest dings and scratches and no other issues besides the grain split. The butt stock fits perfectly tight to the metal and looks like it has never been removed from the gun... The fit is absolutely perfect with the receiver, upper tang, butt plate and is proud on the bottom tang. Never sanded on or messed with. It does however show some chatter marks or gouges on the left side as you can see in the photo. Other than that, it has the normal and honest dings and scratches but has no splits or cracks and fits perfectly. The wood is not all oil soaked and still retains good color. The gun is really not as bad as as I make it out but I want happy customers and don't want any one to be disappointed.. Not much more I can say about this ole 94 other than it is all original and still has many more years of hunting left in it. She ain't no cream puff safe queen BUT it is priced right and would be right at home out in the woods doing what it does best. Putting meat in the freezer !!!! Hard to find a “working” gun any cheaper and still a nice ole Winchester to shoot and collect.. They don't make'em like this anymore !!!! $50 insured shipping.
