This Colt is a MUST have for the SAA enthusiast!! One of one hundred and fifty Custom Shop Model P3840's manufactured in 1994 for the Colt Collectors Association. These models had a variety of special features: Case colored hammer, beveled cylinder with an unfinished face and a 2 line address on the 4 1/ 2 inch barrels. All chambered in 38-40 which has very low production numbers. The case colors on these models were very unusual as well and they are unlike anything I have owned. They have been described as "iridescent"?? "Illuminus colors that seem to change when seen from different angles". BEAUTIFUL and difficult/impossible to photograph with my skill level.
They appear dull in my photos? The ONE PIECE IVORY STOCKS give a classic look to this beauty!
The, "ACTION"... In 2007 the owner shipped this Colt to Peace Maker Specialist. He spared no expense and went with the most expensive, GUNSLINGER, action job with some additional adjustments that make the action on this Colt RIDICULOUS! Lock up is like a vault and there is a 3lb trigger pull. The gun has been fired, I have worked the action 2-300 times, can't leave it alone, and because of the action work there is no turn line on the cylinder! A copy of the work order describes the work that was done totaling $1,009 in 2007. 2018 pricing for the same work at PMS would be just under 2k with tax. And quite the waiting list as well
Interesting note. The work order oddly says case colored hammer?? These models came with a case colored hammer. PMS returns all factory parts and the only item returned was the bolt/cylinder latch. So I believe all the original parts come with this Colt in the original box. Further there is NO visible/cosmetic alterations to this gun! Just a nearly $2,000 action job.
